Born and raised in the city of Lviv, Ukraine, within the beauty of Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical culture. Amazed by the beauty and complexity of nature, Solomiia entered Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (IFNUL), where she got her undergraduate degree in Biology and a year later – master degree in Human and Animal Physiology. Coming with a background in cannabinoid signalling her interests were directed towards the functional role of the putative cannabinoid receptor GPR55. Scholarships, that took place during that time, provided her with a broad work experience in different laboratories in Europe. In 2017 she started a PhD programme in the department of Molecular Neuroscience, Centre for Brain Research, Medical University of Vienna, where she is involved in the study of neuronal diversity of the mammalian hypothalamus upon health and disease. Her current research interests are focused on the interrogation of networks underlying psychiatric disorders, local and long-distance communication that neurons accomplish to shape cognition and specific behaviour.
